Hawk heads Guineas field

Champion trainer Aidan O`Brien`s Hawk Wing remains the hot favourite for the Sagitta 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on Saturday after the final declarations were made today.

The son of Woodman is a best-priced 13-8 chance for the first Classic of the season with William Hill with King Of Happiness, bidding to give Sir Michael Stoute his third consecutive victory in the 2000 Guineas, second favourite on 3-1 with the same firm.

There were just seven withdrawals from the race, leaving a field of 22.

Five of the absentees - Castle Gandolfo, Century City, Creekview, Della Francesca and Johannesburg -are trained by O`Brien, who still has three representatives in the Stg£300,000 Group One as well as Hawk Wing.

Jamie Spencer takes the ride on the favourite while Johnny Murtagh rides Sir Alex Ferguson`s Rock Of Gibraltar.

The Ballydoyle maestro`s other runners are Tendulkar, the mount of George Duffield and the Paul Scallan-ridden Sholokhov.

The other two withdrawals were Godolphin`s Waldenburg and the Mark Tompkins-trained Tahitian Storm.

Godolphin are left with three runners in the Rowley Mile test with Frankie Dettori on Naheef, Richard Hills booked for Meshaheer and Parasol, who will be partnered by Daragh O`Donohoe.
