Hexham Off

This afternoon´s fixture at Hexham has been abandoned after the track failed an inspection at 12.30pm.

Officials at the course were forced to call an initial check for 10.00am after a frosty night but conditions had improved sufficiently for clerk of the course Jonnie Fenwicke-Clennell to give the meeting the go-ahead.

However, snow arrived later to prompt a second inspection that saw racing subsequently abandoned.

"Brian Harding said you wouldn´t school in it and you certainly wouldn´t race in it," said Fenwicke-Clennell.

"It was quite slippy and wet and it would ball under their feet.

"The forecast is for showers of snow on and off for the rest of the afternoon so it was a pretty straightforward decision."
