High Hopes For Cole Juveniles

Paul Cole has high hopes Luck Money and River Proud will make their mark in Pattern-race company before the season is out.

Luck Money finished third behind Henrythenavigator in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot while River Proud was caught on the line by Winker Watson in the July Stakes at Newmarket.

'Luck Money will head for the Gimcrack next week,' said Cole. 'He wondered around a bit at Ascot but he might have just been feeling the ground.

'He's overcome all that now and I would say he has improved. He's stronger, very well in himself and he is going to run extremely well.

'On paper he is not far off the best two-year-olds around. Henrythenavigator was never going in Ireland so he is obviously a lot better than that.

'I like this horse, he's got speed, he's getting stronger and his last two bits of work have pleased us.

'The plan for River Proud is the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster (September 15). He's not a two-year-old type, he's big and has got a rangy action,' Cole told At The Races.

'We think six (furlongs) is a bit too short for him, seven will be ideal then obviously he will go on to get a mile.

'He's done nothing but improve since Newmarket and we're very optimistic he is a Group horse and think he will win decent races.

'He had only had one run before Newmarket and hadn't had experience of getting down and battling it out, so he will come on for the race but what will help is the extra furlong.'
