Hill Handed Hong Kong Test

Collier Hill will be aimed at the Hong Kong Vase in December after his nailbiting success in the Pattison Canadian International.

The globetrotting eight-year-old took his earnings to more than £1,700,000 when edging out Go Deputy by a short head in the 12-furlong Grade One contest at Woodbine on Sunday.

Collier Hill's North Yorkshire-based trainer Alan Swinbank remained in England but watched the race with great pride.

'He's a marvellous horse. I couldn't get over (to Canada) as I had to get down to Newmarket to sell a few horses,' he said yesterday.

'The girl who's with him says he's in great form. He comes to Shannon Airport on Wednesday and we'll pick him up from there. He's flying back from Canada with John Oxx's horses.

'We'll try to win another million with him now.

'There's the Hong Kong Vase in December and we'll take it a step at a time. Dubai would then be a definite.'

Collier Hill finished third and second in the last two renewals of the Group One Dubai Sheema Classic on Dubai World Cup day at Nad Al Sheba in March.

'The Sheema Classic is the only one he can go for as he would have his Group One penalty to carry in the Group Three,' Swinbank added.

'The Canadian job has worked out fine for him after he won the Stockholm Cup, so for a change, everything has gone to plan.

'He just got up in the dying strides. I think he knows where the winning post is ? he's practically human.

'He was one of the first horses I had when I started training and what a horse to start with.'
