Hills Has Eyes For Newmarket

Barry Hills could be double-handed in the Stan James 1000 Guineas with Royal Confidence and Spinning Lucy.

The former finished a close third in last season´s Rockfel Stakes, a race Finsceal Beo won as a juvenile before going on to Classic success at Newmarket in 2007.

"She was a little unlucky in the Oh So Sharp Stakes and another race (Rockfel) at Newmarket," said Charlie Hills, son and assistant to Barry.

"She has done well and we´d probably look to give her a prep race before the Guineas. She´s done a couple of bits of work and the dream is still alive.

"She settles very nicely in her races and she´s by Royal Applause, who was a sprinter. We also had the mare, Never A Doubt, and she was very quick too.

"But the way she settles means she gives herself every chance of staying the mile."

Spinning Lucy took five starts to get off the mark but ended last term on the up, following a maiden success with a smooth win over six furlongs at Headquarters.

"Spinning Lucy won a Listed race at Newmarket last year very nicely and she again is very professional," Hills told At The Races.

"I think there will be a lot of improvement in her as she had an injury in the middle part of last year. She then didn´t have some of the experience that some of the others had.

"She is very professional in her work and we have high hopes for her."
