Hills Payout On Rebelious Spirit After 2.40 Southwell Fiasco Bookmakers William Hill have decided to payout on the official winner of the race Rebelious Spirit in the 2.40 race at Southwell this afternoon. Although no SP has been returned the bookmakers will payout on the winner at the final board price, which was 10-1. Hills are also paying out on the forecast on the race, and punters that backed The race decended into a farce after Andrew Elliotts mount Jord appeared to break through the stalls slightly before the stalls actually opened. The starter then called a false start. Further down the field the flagman waved for a false start, however, only one of the jockeys Chris Caitlin aboard Rebellious Spirit obeyed his order. The rest of the field continued to ride out the finish, but were all disqualified in the stewards room.This left Caitlin and his mount the Rebelious Spirit the opportunity to return to the the start, and canter to a walk over victory.William Hill´s Director of Racing David Hood commented 'We felt really sorry for the punters that got caught up in the fiasco at Southwell today, and we thought it was only fair to payout on Rebelious Spirit' He continued 'We are not setting a precedent here, however, when events like this occur, we will look at each case on its merits'
