Hobbs Mulls Monkerhostin Options

Monkerhostin could head straight for the totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup after trainer Philip Hobbs ruled him out of tomorrow´s Letheby & Christopher Cotswold Chase.

If the King George VI Chase second runs again before the Gold Cup in March it will be in the Aon Chase at Newbury on February 11.

'He doesn´t run on Saturday,' said Hobbs. 'He might run in the Aon Chase or he might go straight for the Gold Cup, I don´t know yet.'

Monkerhostin is disputing favouritism at around 6-1 for the Gold Cup after being beaten only a neck by last year´s winner Kicking King at Sandown on Boxing Day on his first attempt at three miles over fences.
