Hogmaneigh Team Wait On Weather

Stuart Williams has warned Hogmaneigh could miss the Wokingham Stakes at Royal Ascot if the ground is too quick.

The four-year-old is as low as 7-1 favourite for the handicap event with Stan James following his win in the Vodafone 'Dash' Stakes at Epsom earlier in the month.

Hogmaneigh is set to carry a minimum of 8st 13lb in the six-furlong cavalry charge at Ascot but Williams will not run the gelding unless he is satisfied with the ground.

He said: 'It´s fairly obvious from his form that he goes well when there´s a bit of cut in the ground and I just want to let everyone know that he´s not certain to run on fast ground.

'The horse is really well in himself and, given good ground, I would run him but we don´t know what it´s going to be like so I would advise people to hold their bets.

'He will be left in at the five-day stage and then we will make a decision later in the week once we have had a look at the ground.'
