Holland to ride Dupont Darryll Holland will partner dual Classic winner Dupont in Tuesday`s St James`s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, much to the relief of the colt`s trainer William Haggas.Connections of Dupont had been fearing that Holland - on board the three-year-old when landing both the Italian and German 2,000 Guineas - might be required to ride Redback in Tuesday`s feature. But Holland`s agent, Matt Chapman, revealed this morning: 'I have been in contact with Will Edmeades, racing manager for the Waney Racing Group Inc that own Redback, and the latter is 99 per cent certain to run in the Jersey Stakes next week so Darryll has been given the all-clear to ride Dupont on Tuesday.'In the end plans have worked out perfectly, as Redback will relish seven furlongs - even though he has a deserved penalty - and the straight course of the Jersey, while Dupont is the dark horse in the St James`s Palace as no-one quite knows how much he has improved in winning his two Classics.'William Haggas has done a great job with Dupont, and it would be a great story if he could overturn the might of Ballydoyle and Godolphin at Ascot.'
