There are s two meetings in Ireland on Friday, with jumps action taking place at Ballinrobe from 4:40 to 7:47, whilst flat action takes place at Dundalk from 5.30 to 8.30.

We have provided selections and analysis for three of the races on Friday’s cards. and one in particular stands out as a strong contender. Conditions look to suit, and with a more favourable mark, this could be the ideal opportunity for them to get their head in front. Let’s take a closer look.

    5.12 Ballinrobe - Yoradreamer

Yoradreamer is one of two runners on the card for Willie Mullins, and this looks to be his best chance of a winner.

We’ve seen him three times on the racecourse so far—the first was in a bumper, where he finished well behind Romeo Colleo, and the next two came in maiden hurdles. He wasn’t beaten far on either occasion and went off favourite on his most recent start at Thurles, though he didn’t quite have enough to get the job done that day.

He comes here with the best form on offer and, although he’s currently unrated, he’s probably a few pounds better than the 119 mark given to Holy See, who looks the most likely danger. Yoradreamer shouldn’t have much trouble beating him.

    5.47 Ballinrobe - Zoffanien

The Terence O’Brien-trained Zoffanien looks well handicapped and can get his head in front on quicker ground here. He finished third on heavy ground last time out, in what was his first run over hurdles this year. That came after a long break, having been running on the Flat prior to that.

He tends to handle all types of ground, but tackling heavy conditions on his seasonal reappearance—against race-fit rivals—was always going to be a tough task.

His last win over hurdles came nearly three years ago on good ground, off a mark of 126, which is 6lb higher than the mark he runs off today.

    8.30 Dundalk - Doctor Grace

Doctor Grace put up a respectable performance over a mile-and-a-half last time but couldn’t reel in Eastern Wind.

He’s never won over that trip before, and it may have stretched him slightly. He has won over a mile-and-a-quarter, and he drops back to a slightly shorter trip now.

His two distance wins have come off marks of 58 and 62 respectively, so he’s well treated off a mark of 59. He’s now run off 59 on his last three starts, and you can see why the handicapper is reluctant to drop him any further—he’s been right in the mix each time.

He did show a bit more last time out, and with the return to a preferred trip, he may be ready to strike.
