Huffer Steps Up Rebel Work Cockney Rebel is set to have his first piece of work on Wednesday since fracturing a pelvis at Royal Ascot. The English and Irish 2000 Guineas winner has made a fine recovery from the injury sustained in the St James's Palace Stakes and is on target for the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot on September 29.'We are looking forward to seeing him back on the racecourse again,' said trainer Geoff Huffer.'He's a natural athlete so he doesn't take much getting fit. The whole problem was that he fractured his pelvis so we had to give him time to get over that.'He had six weeks on the easy list and he's OK now.'At the end of July we started walking and trotting him, then cantering and we went from there.'He's ready to do his first piece of work on Wednesday. He looks a lot stronger now.'He's also in the Champion Stakes as well as the QEII. We'll have to see how things go and take one race at a time.'He's contested three Group Ones this year, winning two and he was only beaten a length and three-quarters in the other when he fractured his pelvis,' Huffer told At The Races.(C) PA Sport
