Impact Delights Connections Deep Impact remains a 7-2 chance with Ladbrokes for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe despite a sparkling performance in a spin at Longchamp yesterday.Winner of 10 of his 11 starts in Japan, the four-year-old got a first taste of the French track when working over 12 furlongs under big-race pilot Yutaka Take.He covered the final 400 metres in 21 seconds, impressing trainer Yasuo Ikee and the group of around 100 journalists who turned up to watch.'I'm very surprised how many people turned up just to watch him work,' said Ikee.'It was a good workout, blessed with good weather and the track conditions were perfect.'His training is going according to schedule, exactly the same as it would be over in Japan.'We must thank the people who are looking after us in France. It has made for a good preparation for the Arc.'Deep Impact covered the last half a mile in 50 seconds, which is what we would want him to.'He is now much better than what he was last summer and we can't ask for more.'(C) PA Sport
