Indian Poised For Breeders' Bid

Sleeping Indian is looking increasingly likely to take his chance in the Breeders' Cup Mile at Churchill Downs on November 4.

John Gosden's inmate landed the sixth success of his 11-race career when winning the Challenge Stakes at Newmarket on Champions Day and connections initially suggested that would be his last run.

He has come out of his recent race in fine fettle, however, and as he has enjoyed an easy campaign to date, the Indian Ridge entire looks to have earned himself a fourth crack at the highest level.

'The Breeders' Cup is a strong possibility and the horse himself is in excellent order as I understand it,' explained owner David Redvers, who acquired the five-year-old earlier this season.

'The race obviously could hardly be much better but equally there are very strong arguments to be made for running him there.

'He is in extremely good form, the ground is unlikely to be fast, there is major prize money on offer and it could have a major impact on his future stud career,' he reasoned.

'Because he has had such an easy season so far as he was sick early on, it seems a sensible route to take ? it could be ideal for him.'

Should Sleeping Indian make the trek across the Atlantic for the upcoming test, Redvers stressed it will be his final racecourse appearance before he takes up stallion duties at the owner's Tweenhills Farm and Stud.
