Injured Officer to miss Kentucy Derby

One-time Kentucky Derby favourite Officer has suffered an injury and will miss the Kentucky Derby.

The three-year-old lost his unbeaten record in the Breeders` Cup Juvenile last season when he finished fifth to the Aidan O`Brien-trained Johannesburg.

Trainer Bob Baffert said that a slight filling was discovered in the colt`s left fore-leg following a gallop on Thursday and an examination determined that Officer suffered a 'minor injury' to the soft tissue in the leg.

The horse's injury is not believed to be career threatening.
