Irish-racing.com plays part in sponsorship sale Fairyhouse's novel sale of race sponsorship on eBay reached it's conclusion last night with The Irish Rover Bar, New York securing the rights for the Juvenile Hurdle on Sunday's card for 1,500 euro after owner Aidan Shields read about the auction on www.irish-racing.com. Irishman Shields has owned the Irish Rover Bar in Queens since 1985. The publican has horses in training with Tony Martin and hopes to have a runner on the day. "I saw it advertised on the internet and thought why not go for it - as it would make a great day out and promote my pub in Ireland. It will be fun," said Shields. Fairyhouse Manager Caroline Gray commented: "We are thrilled with the response from the auction. By coincidence I have actually been in The Irish Rover Bar in Queens, however it is unlikely I would have approached them for sponsorship! "We hoped by selling the race on Ebay it would attract a new sponsor to Fairyhouse as well as promoting sponsorship as an effective form of marketing - that objective seems to have been achieved. We are looking forward to a great weekend's racing and to welcoming Mr Shields and his friends over from New York on Sunday."
