Israeli bred foal born in Ireland

Hubie de Burgh´s stud in County Kildare broke ground last week with the birth of the first Israeli bred foal in Ireland.

De Burgh, for many years manager of Sheikh Hamdan al Maktoum´s Derrinstown Stud and associated farms in Ireland, reported: "Both mother and son are well. He (the colt) is a good colour and is attractive."

The colt is by Tabari, a son of Sadlers Wells, who is closely related to outstanding champions Galileo, King´s Best, Urban Sea, and Anabaa Blue.

The new arrival is out of Asanine, a daughter of Shinko Forest, who won at Naas for trainer Kevin Prendergast as a three-year-old and was also fifth of 24 in the valuable 2003 Tattersalls Breeders Stakes at the Curragh.

Following her racing career Asanine was sold to Lithuanian businessman Mr Arunas, who sent the mare to the Bally Stud in Israel where she was cared for by owners Ilan Vered and Tamar Ben David.

After being covered by Tabari last season, the decision was subsequently taken to return Asanine to her native Ireland earlier this year where she will continue her career as a broodmare and where her colt by Tabari will go into training, in due course.
