Jacob Oozing Confidence

Daryl Jacob is in positive mood ahead of The Listener's bid for glory in Sunday's John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase at the County Kildare track.

Robert Alner's grey rose to prominence when winning the Lexus Chase in fantastic style with Jacob in the plate last year.

The same combination subsequently suffered a heartbreaking reverse in the Irish Hennessy and got no further than the third fence at Down Royal last time.

Jacob said: 'I really am looking forward to it and he's in good form at home.

'We got the tactics wrong the last day with him on his first run of the year, when he was just too fresh and keen and made a few mistakes before he got rid of me.

'Touch wood, he jumps very well and I think we just got the tactics wrong in trying to hold him up. We just weren't going fast enough for him and he was a bit flamboyant.

'Two and a half miles won't be a problem to him as he's got a bit of pace,' he told At The Races.

'We all know he's a good horse as soft ground brings out the best in him and I think he's a worthy favourite.'
