Juddmonte Beresford Stakes Tops Bill At Curragh The Group 2 Juddmonte Beresford Stakes tops the bill on another fascinating day of racing at the Curragh this Sunday. The one mile juvenile contest has attracted an entry of 22, including nine from the all powerful Aidan O?Brien stable, who will attempt to win the race for the 10th time. Most interesting amongst the Ballydoyle trained contenders are Achill Island, New Zealand and Lizard Island. Most eyes here, however, will be on the unbeaten David Myerscough trained Bruges, which was purchased recently by Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum. Other entries of note include the Kevin Prendergast trained Brazilian Star, the Dermot Weld trained Domestic Fund, Lisvale trained by David Wachman and the Mick Channon trained Hatta Fort. The CL Weld Park Stakes is the main appetiser to Sunday?s feature and the Group 3 juvenile fillies contest has attracted some very interesting sorts amongst the 23 entries. Dermot Weld, who sponsors the race in memory of his late father Charlie, can choose between Carribean Sunset and the highly promising Maryellen?s Spirit. The much inform Jim Bolger meanwhile has three entries, Maidin Moch, Solas Na Greine and recent course winner Toirneach owned by television presenter Grainne Seoige. Aidan O?Brien can choose between newcomer Hold Me Love Me, Kittty Matcham and Savethisdanceforme, while John Oxx is represented by Forthefirstime. Yarastar would appear to be the best of Kevin Prendergast?s four entries, while the overseas trained challengers include Lady Deauville from the Paul Blockley stable.The appearance of US Ranger in the Listed Waterford Testimonial Stakes really catches the eye. The former French trained 3yo who finished 7th in the English 2000 Guineas, prior to his second placing in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot, makes his debut for trainer Aidan O?Brien. The Ballydoyle based trainer is also responsible for Abraham Lincoln in the 6 furlong contest. British based trainer Danny Nicholls meanwhile has a strong entry with Buachaill Dona, Indian Trail, Masta Plasta and Strike Up The Band. Benwilt Breeze, runner up in last Saturday?s Ayr Gold Cup, will attempt to go one better for the Ger Lyons stable. The first of seven races takes place at 2.30pm. The going at the Co.
