Katchit third behind Chomba Womba Katchit was beaten into third as Chomba Womba registered a comfortable victory in Saturday's Elite Hurdle at Wincanton. The reigning Champion Hurdler had already lost once this season when turned over on his reappearance at Kempton. And this time he was conceding big weights to the winner and the eventual second Takeroc. He never looked likely to get in the shake-up, despite staying on gamely after appearing beaten a long way out. 'Choc' Thornton was hard at work on Katchit (2-1) a long way from home as Chomba Womba and Takeroc cruised along in front. Chomba Womba took it up two out and a confident Barry Geraghty was looking round for non-existent dangers. They pulled away to take the honours by three-and-a-quarter lengths at 11-4 with the 13-8 favourite Takeroc second. Katchit was six lengths further back in third. Stan James responded to the result by easing Katchit to 8-1 from 6s in their Champion Hurdle betting. Meanwhile Sky Bet introduced Chomba Womba into their market for the Festival showpiece at 20-1.
