Kelami to miss Cheltenham date

The Queen Mother`s JCB Triumph Hurdle hope Kelami will definitely not take part in the Cheltenham event after undergoing soft palate surgery.

The four-year-old, who is trained in France by Francois Doumen, finished second to Volano in the Ripley Juvenile Novices` Hurdle at Sandown on Saturday.

But the Queen Mother`s racing manager Sir Michael Oswald has confirmed that Kelami, a 25-1 chance for the Festival with bookmakers William Hill, will not take part in the two mile, one furlong contest.

He said: 'He had soft palate operation yesterday, which we understand went well, but he will definitely not run in the Triumph Hurdle.'
