Kelly Ready for Geordieland Challenge Again Shane Kelly is keeping his tactics close to his chest as he prepares to partner Geordieland in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot tomorrow. Kelly struck at the first time of asking on the Jamie Osborne-trained grey when winning the Yorkshire Cup last month as Geordieland finally lost his tag as perennial bridesmaid. "I´ve worked out my tactics for Ascot. I found the key to him at York and hope I can do so again tomorrow," said the jockey. He brought the seven-year-old with a late run on the Knavesmire to deny Royal And Regal by a head. "The first time I rode him was at York and it was great. I´ve not sat on him since then, but Jamie´s happy with him and if he´s happy, I´m happy," said Kelly. "He deserved to win a race a like that. He´d been competing in all the top level races. York was great and hopefully it will have given him a bit of confidence." Geordieland was runner-up to Yeats in the stayers´ championship 12 months ago when ridden by Jamie Spencer and Kelly knows it will be tough. "Yeats is the obvious one and there´s Coastal Path as well. It won´t be easy," he added.
