Key Arc Prep For Main Man

Manduro will go for his fourth Group One victory of the season over different distances when he runs in the Prix Foy at Longchamp tomorrow.

Successful in the nine-furlong Prix d'Ispahan, the mile-and-a-quarter Prince Of Wales's Stakes and the one-mile Prix Jacques le Marois, the Andre Fabre-trained five-year-old tackles a mile and a half for the first time.

He faces four rivals in his prep race for next month's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

'He's in good form and Mr Fabre is very pleased with him,' said Paul Harley, racing manager to owner Baron Georg von Ullmann.

'Mr Fabre has always felt he would stay a mile and a half and he didn't look like a non-stayer in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes. He's going to be put to the test on Sunday.

'He was a little unlucky last year and this year he's gone the opposite way. We are hoping he can stay on top of the tree, where he belongs.'

Manduro will have the services of a pacemaker, Sommertag, who has been supplemented.

Mandesha is expected to be the main threat after chasing home Peeping Fawn in the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood.

'I think that performance was quite good,' said Georges Rimaud, racing manager to owner Princess Zahra Aga Khan.

'We do not think she would have beaten Peeping Fawn that day but she had quite an unfortunate run and the track was not easy for her.

'She seems to be coming back to her self quite well and is in good shape.'
