Lashes takes Musidora in style

Lush Lashes enjoyed the step up in trip when running out an impressive winner of the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes at York.

Jim Bolger´s filly finished sixth in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket last time and proved far too hot to handle upped in distance by a little over two furlongs on the Knavesmire.

Having hit the front at around the two-furlong marker, the 2-1 favourite saw her race out strongly to beat off Cape Amber and Dar Re Mi with something in hand.

Big-race partner Kevin Manning settled the winner just off the pace throughout the early stages as the Barry Hills-trained Cruel Sea cut out the running.

Aidan O´Brien´s Moonstone made up some ground to lay down a challenge soon after the field turned for home, but she was quickly put in her place as Lush Lashes cruised past on the outside.

Once Manning had gone for home the race was effectively over, although 9-1 chance Cape Amber came from a long way back and ran on well to take a five-length second.

Dar Re Mi (100-30) travelled well enough but failed to pick up and had to settle for third, a further length and three-quarters away.

Manning said: "She´s done it very easily. There wasn´t much pace early on, but they quickened a long way from home.

"I have no worries about her getting a mile and a half.

"She quickened up well and galloped all the way to the line."

Having spoken to Bolger at his Coolcullen base in, the trainer´s travelling head lad Ger Flynn said: "The boss has just been on the phone and he says we´re not going to rule anything out.

"At the moment the Oaks at Epsom and the Curragh are on the cards, but it will more likely be the Curragh. We won´t rule the English Oaks out, we´ll see how she is when we get her home."
