Chicago Lightening (2/1f) gained an overdue first win today and subsequently changed hands, following an easy win in Gowran's Membership At Gowran (Fillies) Claiming Race.

Placed in five of nine previous runs, the daughter of Night Of Thunder today made all under Ben Coen, quickening well for a three and a quarter lengths win over Je T'ai Porte

Winning trainer Johnny Murtagh reported “she’s had a few chances but it looked an ideal opportunity. It was a perfect race for her. She was keen early in the year and she probably thought she was a bit quicker than she is.

“Ben said she would probably get a mile and one around here. She likes the fast ground and could go back to Dundalk. She ran well there earlier in the year.”

“There is probably a bit more improvement in her and she is there to be claimed.”

Afterwards trainer Shane Duffy claimed Chicago Lightening for €20,000, while trainer Gavin Cromwell claimed runner-up Je T'ai Porte for €10,000.
