Limerick set for busy summer

Limerick Racecourse is gearing up for a busy summer, following on from its successful Student Raceday on April 5.

Russell Ferris, General Manager of Limerick Racecourse, said “our next race scheduled meeting is May 2nd and we then entertain the Munster GAA community on May 22.”

“The Twilight Racing season starts on Saturday June 11th with Ryan Sheridan playing live after racing. June 17 will see The Delorentos make an appearance at the track and finally on July 22 we will have recent All Ireland Talent Show runners up, Mad For The Road playing their first big concert.

Reflecting on the course’s recent Student Raceday, Ferris said “the attendance for the day was 9,400. Limerick Racecourse initiated the concept of Student Race day 5 years ago and today it is one of the highlight fixtures on the calendar year. A visiting couple described Limerick Racecourse as the best they had ever been to. ‘What a great day; the crowds, the fun and the atmosphere is brilliant, we have been to 59 racecourses in the UK and Ireland, and Limerick is by far the best’, Allison Jenkins mentioned.”

“This was an unbelievable night for Limerick Racecourse, the entire team has worked tirelessly over the past 8 months to ensure the success of last year’s event was built upon and everyone got their just rewards on Tuesday night as the gate almost doubled on last year.”

"It is a race evening such as Tuesday which proves why we are all working to get the younger generation through the turnstiles, the atmosphere the students generate is electric and is savoured by all who are lucky to be in attendance. I have never before heard a crowd cheering from the horses leave the stalls to they are crossing the finishing line, it is truly a wonderful experience.”

"The students were excellent on the night, the craic and banter of the racing was enjoyed with youthful exuberance and no issues. We had a photographer on hand to capture the stills and a film crew to engineer a promotional video of the evening, so please get online and visit our website and facebook page to see for yourself the mass of people enjoying Irish Racing.”

"I would like to thank in particular the Limerick based colleges, keeping in regular contact with the Racecourse on how the event was shaping up, they were all a model of professionalism. We have many more racedays coming up over the next couple of months with superb offers available I recommend patrons get in touch with the racecourse and receive the necessary information.”
