Limestone returns after injury

Limestone Lad returns to action over hurdles at Punchestown tomorrow after injury ruled the prolific winner out of last month`s Cheltenham Festival.

The 10-year-old, who damaged back muscles in a paddock accident in February, runs in the Kevin McManus Bookmakers Champion Stayers Hurdle having been sharpened up by a recent run on the Flat.

James Bowe`s charge faces eight rivals in tomorrow`s Grade One contest, including the British-trained duo Montalcino (Venetia Williams) and Spendid (Alan King).

King doubts whether Spendid will be able to lower Limestone Lad`s colours but said: 'I think he`ll run well but Limestone Lad is exceptional and he`s had a spin on the Flat. Spendid is in very good form so we`ll give it a go.

'The ground is drying up all the time which will be in his favour.'

The going at Punchestown is currently described as good.
