Lingfield and Exeter Pass Inspections

Tuesday afternoon's National Hunt meeting at Lingfield and Exeter will go ahead as planned after passing a morning inspections.

Course officials at Lingfield had a look on Monday afternoon following heavy rain but decided to give the card every chance of going ahead.

Miraculously, despite a further 12mm of rain overnight clerk of the course Neil MacKenzie Ross was happy to give the meeting the green light.

"We've passed the inspection and racing goes ahead," said MacKenzie Ross.

"We had a further 12mm overnight but incredibly the track has taken it very well indeed.

"There was standing water on the track yesterday but that has now gone.

"I have to admit I am pleasantly surprised as when I'd heard we'd had further rain my heart sank but we are good to go."

Exeter was hit with two inches of rain in the past three days but a relatively dry night means the card can go also ahead.

"Racing goes ahead," said clerk of the course Barry Johnson.

"We've had 3mm of rain overnight but we took it pretty well.

"However, we have taken out the hurdle and the open ditch in front of the stands.

"The going is heavy but perfectly raceable."
