Ludlow frozen out

Racing in Britain continues to be hit by the cold snap, with today's meeting at Ludlow abandoned and Huntingdon under threat as officals have scheduled a further inspection at 10am.

Overnight temperatures at Ludlow dropped to as low as minus-four degrees, and the situation failed to significantly improve by daybreak.

Clerk of the course Bob Davies confirmed, 'After inspecting the course this morning, we've had to abandon. The temperature first thing this morning was zero degrees and the track is still frozen.'

Huntingdon's Clerk of the course Andrew Morris is still 'hopeful' having assessed conditions at 8am, although a further check is planned for 10am.

'Overnight temperatures reached minus-one degrees but it had risen to plus-one degrees by 8am. We are forecast to get up to four degrees by 12pm,' said Morris.

'There are a couple of small areas we are worried about, but we are hopeful.'
