Lyons Hails Dundalk The plaudits for Dundalk's new all-weather track continue to flood in, with trainer Ger Lyons the latest to hail the development a huge success.Lyons, who was denied a piece of history in the first ever race when Mist And Stone was beaten a short-head, believes the surface to be perfect and one of the fairest in Ireland.'It was top class,' said Lyons.'We nearly had a treble. We set out to try and make a bit of history in the first race and we got beat a short-head and we were unlucky not to win.'It will suit me, it's 40 minutes from the yard, it's a very fair track and in my opinion ? I nearly had a winner from stall 13 ? you can win from any draw and the best horse should win.'There is nothing worse than watching some tracks and you have to put the horses into the race early from a bad draw and you can't ride a normal race, but you can at Dundalk.'I'll have no issues taking my best horses there, Vincenzio Galilei ran there the other day and a good two-year-old (Leandros) and they all came back without a bother. We've already had interest from America for the two-year-old.'They've spent a lot of money but they've done it right which was very important, there was a gap for something like this in Ireland and thankfully they have done a great job.'(C) PA Sport
