Maggie Handed Irish Assignment

Wake Up Maggie, an impressive winner of a Lingfield Group Three on her last start, is likely to bypass Royal Ascot in favour of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Brownstown Stakes at Leopardstown on July 4.

Touched off by subsequent Sun Chariot winner Spinning Queen in the Group Three contest last season, trainer Chris Wall is hoping she can go one better.

'She looks more than likely to bypass Ascot and I think she will run in the fillies´ Group Three at Leopardstown, the Brownstown Stakes,' said Wall.

'She was just beaten in it last year. June is rather a tricky month because there is no obvious race for her but after that the races come thick and fast.

'We´ve got the win under our belts though, so we are under no pressure with her.

'It was a good win and it will have done her confidence the world of good. I´m not getting too carried away as the favourite (Wasseema) didn´t run her race but at least she beat the others as she was entitled to do.

'Clearly she is in good heart and if we can keep her in good heart, I hope there are some decent races to win with her.'
