Mamool Boost For Godolphin

Mamool provided the Godolphin operation with a much-needed success by winning the Listed Racing UK Glorious Stakes at Goodwood today.

The six-year-old entire, who was sent off a well-supported 9-4 favourite, was making his first appearance since the Melbourne Cup last November, but showed little sign of rustiness under Kerrin McEvoy.

The Australian jockey bided his time toward the rear of the field but quickened nicely three furlongs from home to collar Dubai Success by a neck beneath the shadow of the post.

Jagger, who dictated the early pace, had to be content with third place at odds of 25-1.

McEvoy told BBC Sport: 'At the top of the hill when they slow down to go into that bend, they always run out of it quite quickly and it caught him by surprise a little bit.

'I just had to give him a kick to get in there, but he was travelling well three furlongs out and he is a horse with a bit of class and has shown a good turn of foot today - he´s one of my favourites for sure.

'Once I got to Dubai Success and started to follow him I was always pretty confident that I would run him down as I hadn´t really asked a lot from Mamool.'
