Marjalina set for Lodge Park test

Kevin Prendergast admits he will know a lot more about Marjalina after Sunday´s Lodge Park Stud EBF Park Express Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday.

The Group Three contest sees the three-year-old generation tackle older horses for the first time this season and heralds the reappearance of Jim Bolger´s 1000 Guineas contender Lush Lashes.

Prendergast´s filly won a Leopardstown maiden in November, but in completely different conditions to that which she will face at the weekend.

"Marjalina won her maiden on fast ground and it is more or less a feeling job with her to see where we stand," said Prendergast.

"Usually the older ones hold sway at this time of year. Danehill Music is quite good in the spring and Deauville Vision won the Irish Lincoln really easy last year, they´d be the standouts."

Like Marjalina, Lush Lashes has only had the one start but she won the ultra-competitive Goffs Fillies Million.

"It´s a strange one Jim running his good horse, heavy ground over a mile, I wouldn´t run her but there you are," said Prendergast.
