Martin indicates that Davids Lad is to bypass Aintree Grand National.

Following the publication of the weights for the Grand National, trainer Tony Martin has indicated that his Davids Lad is now unlikely to contest the Aintree contest.

Davids Lad has been allocated 11st1lbs for the race, a weight which Martin believes to be excessive. He reported 'After seeing the weights I´d say we might head for the Irish National at Fairyhouse after Cheltenham and forget completely about Liverpool.'

He added 'First Gold has been allocated 11st12lbs. On Current ratings, Davids Lad should be getting 22lbs from him, but at Aintree he only gets 11lb. Similarly I´m worse off with the likes of Rince Ri, Harbour Pilot and Commanche Court. Taking all this into account, we might be better off going to Cheltenham for the Mildmay Of Flete Handicap Chase before going for the Irish National in April.'
