Mason gets fine for `schooling`

English permit holder Norman Mason has been fined Stg£2,400 - and three of his jockeys banned -after a Jockey Club disciplinary committee inquiry into allegations of schooling in public.

Ciaran Eddery (Rakaposhi Raid), Calvin McCormack (Red Mimosa) and Gerard Ryan (Sabi Sand) incurred the displeasure of the local stewards at Bangor after riding the three 33-1 chances for Mason.

The horses were suspended from running in any race for 30 days from October 25th to November 23rd.

The stewards found that Eddery, McCormack and Ryan failed to take all reasonable measures throughout the race to ensure their horses were given a full opportunity to obtain the best possible placing.

Mason trained Red Marauder to win this year`s Grand National at Aintree.
