McCoy on course for comeback Tony McCoy is making good progress in his recovery from a back injury and expects to be back in the saddle before the Cheltenham Festival. The Co. Antrim-born jockey injured his back in a fall from Arnold Layne in the Classic Chase at Warwick on January 12. "I´ve not been up to much. I went to Dubai for 10 days and the sun really helped me, hopefully that will have done me some good," said McCoy. "I´m not in any discomfort, the last time I had a painkiller was the day after the operation. I´ve been feeling really good and I´m unbelievably mobile now. "When I was in Dubai I was walking five or six miles on the beach every day and now I´m having pretty hard physio and doing a lot of work in the gym. It shouldn´t be too much longer before I´m back riding. "I´m doing a good hour or more in the gym on the bikes and on the cross-trainer everyday, I have no problem touching my toes and I´m very mobile. "I´m going back for another scan next Monday and if that´s all right then hopefully I wouldn´t be far off riding out again, which is something to look forward." Aiding McCoy´s progress is Kriotherapy treatment, which was also used by Ryan Moore last year. It involves going into an insulated compartment where the temperature is minus 135 degrees to help improve blood circulation. "I´m having the Kriotherapy every other week, the gym and the facilities there are fantastic," McCoy told At The Races. "It´s something a lot of people should do. When you come out of it your skin goes bright red so I´m sure it must help your circulation." As usual McCoy will have a top book of rides to look forward to at the Festival but admits to having been impressed with Albertas Run winning the Reynoldstown Chase last weekend. "I was quite pleased with Albertas Run the other day. He´s a horse with plenty of ability, he won the EBF Final over hurdles and a big handicap at Aintree last year and the SunAlliance looks pretty open this year," said McCoy. "And obviously Exotic Dancer is going to beat Kauto Star and Denman! "Kauto´s a very good horse but they all get beaten at some point, he looked exceptionally good though. You can´t fault him and he has won everything they have asked of him."
