McGuinness Looking Forward Adrian McGuinness has reported Pierse Hurdle disappointment Victram none the worse after his exertions in the Leopardstown race. He was sent off the well-backed 4-1 favourite but after a bad mistake at the first he never recovered and was pulled up. 'He was very disappointing the other day but the horse made a very bad mistake at the first hurdle,' McGuinness told At The Races. 'He got blinded coming over the first and he ran straight through it. He skimmed a hind leg and it was badly bruised last week so we just had him walking in the water. 'We gave him a canter the other day and he seems fine. We were very disappointed with his performance but we checked his blood and everything else and we could find nothing wrong with him. 'He ate up after the race but he was very sore and tender but we are looking forward to going to war with him again. Victram does hold an entry in the totesport trophy at Newbury on February 11 but that has now been ruled out by connections. 'We´ve ruled the totesport at Newbury out because he´s going to be too far out of the handicap and I don´t run horses from out of the handicap,' said McGuinness. 'We´ll probably go to Sandown for the Imperial Cup next with him. After that it could be the County Hurdle at Cheltenham or the Irish Lincoln which he won last year. 'It will all depend on the ground, he wants a little cut but not too much.'? PA Sport
