McNamara set for six to eight week layoff Andrew McNamara, who received a second-last flight fall from Fen Game in the Bar-One Racing Handicap Hurdle at Navan on Sunday, could be out of action for between six to eight weeks. The Limerick rider was stood down for seven days that afternoon and Dr Adrian McGoldrick, Turf Club medical officer, reported on Sunday: "It was a very nasty fall and Andrew will be kept in Our Lady Of Lourdes Hospital in Navan for another three or four days. He was concussed for a good while after the fall, but thankfully he´s fine this morning." McGoldrick added: "He will be referred to Mr Jack Philips, the Turf Club neurosurgeon, in Beaumont Hospital and he will decide when Andrew will be fit to resume riding again. "At this stage I would say he´s looking at between six to eight weeks out." Earlier in the day McNamara had partnered Master Gladiator to win the opening maiden hurdle.
