McNamara sets sight on 500 Point to Point wins

Amateur jockey John Thomas McNamara is within two wins of being the first jockey to break the 500 winner mark in Irish point to point history.

McNamara, Champion Point to Point Jockey five times in the past, currently has 498 winners to his name and with two Sunday meetings to the end of the season, the Limerick based rider can be expected to ride the necessary winners.

This season´s Point to Point Champion Jockey-elect Derek O´Connor himself passed the 400 winner mark on Sunday with a double at Bartlemy to bring his winners total to an impressive 401.
