Millman Wants Frankie Reunion

Connections of Sergeant Cecil hope Frankie Dettori will be available to renew his association with the popular stayer in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot.

The Derby-winning jockey stood in for the sidelined Alan Munro to great effect last season to win the Lonsdale and Doncaster Cups before securing a famous Group One win in the Prix Du Cadran at Longchamp.

Dettori was in the plate when the eight-year-old made his seasonal debut at Newbury in April but he missed out when Sergeant Cecil won the Yorkshire Cup last month as he was required to ride for Godolphin.

Jimmy Fortune took his place as Rod Millman´s stable star gave 5lb to his nine rivals when beating Geordieland by three-quarters of a length on the Knavesmire.

'Hopefully we´ll have Frankie Dettori on him. If he can´t, we´ll ask Jimmy,' said Millman.

'Frankie is very keen to get back on and hopefully that will be the case, but nothing´s ever certain in racing.

'Frankie is hoping to ride but if he doesn´t then we´ll offer the ride to Jimmy.'

Godolphin still have four entries in the Gold Cup in two weeks´ time ? Cherry Mix, Laverock, The Geezer and Tam Lin.
