Moore happy with Castle ahead of National Arthur Moore has been pleased with the way King Johns Castle has taken to National-style fences at home ahead of his run at Aintree on Saturday. The JP McManus-owned gelding, who will be ridden by Paul Carberry in the John Smith´s Grand National, warmed up for a crack at the big race with a pleasing win over timber at Naas. "King Johns Castle is on course for the Grand National and I was pleased with him at Naas and he did it well," said Moore. "I have popped him over something similar to the National fences at home and he´s been fine." King Johns Castle has yet to win over a distance in excess of two miles and three furlongs, but Moore is not unduly concerned about his stamina and hopes the prediction of good ground proves accurate. "I don´t want extremes of ground really. He stayed on well over three miles in the Pierse Chase at Leopardstown," he added. "I wouldn´t say it´s been an ambition of mine to win the race, but it would be very nice to do so."
