Mount Nelson to be sole Ballydoyle representative in King George

Mount Nelson is set to be Aidan O´Brien´s only runner in the Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown on Saturday, when the trainer will bid for his 12th Group 1 victory of the season.

In the wake of a third successive Irish Derby triumph that followed a brilliant Royal Ascot, O´Brien left three horses among the 12 Eclipse acceptors, of which Mount Nelson is the most likely to run.

?We are looking at running only Mount Nelson in the Eclipse and Johnny Murtagh will ride him,? said O´Brien on Monday.

?King Of Rome will probably go to Hamburg for the German Derby on Sunday. Plan ran well when fourth at the Curragh on Sunday and this weekend might come a bit soon for him.?

All of O´Brien´s three Eclipse winners have been three-year-olds, the most recent being Oratorio three years ago.

Mount Nelson was limited to just one start as a three-year-old after winning the Group 1 Criterium International at two. Fifth in the Queen Anne Stakes last time, he gets his chance in the Eclipse as Duke Of Marmalade, the top performer in Europe at 1m2f this season, is being aimed at the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes on July 26.
