NOTTINGHAM PASSES INSPECTION

Nottingham`s meeting today has passed a precautionary inspection this morning but further rain may yet put the meeting in doubt.

Clerk of the course, Charlie Moore, explained: 'We had 7mm of rain overnight but the track is raceable and the going is heavy with some very heavy patches in the straight.

'However it is still a bit showery now and if we got further rain in any substantial quantity then the stewards might be forced to hold another inspection.'

Tomorrow`s meeting at Leicester has been abandoned.

The fixture, due to have been Leicester`s first of the new turf Flat season, has fallen foul of the recent wet weather.

Officials at Exeter have called a precautionary inspection at 7.30am for tomorrow`s meeting.

The going is described as heavy following overnight rain.
