Naas Saturday for Gonebeyondrecall

by Eamonn Murphy

Gonebeyondrecall, a brilliant winner of the Goffs Land Rover Bumper at Punchestown last spring, could revert to that sphere in the Thoroughbred County Naas (Pro-Am) INH Flat Race at Naas on Saturday.

The son of Dr Massini has only appeared in public once since his breathtaking victory in that big-money event last April. Sent off the even money favourite for his hurdling bow in an novice contest in late October, Davy Russell´s mount could only manage a modest third of four behind Quintana.

That run over flights makes Gonebeyondrecall ineligible for the Weatherbys Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival on March 12th. Trainer Noel Glynn explained, "hopefully he´ll run on Saturday, if the ground is not atrocious. If he won with his head in his chest we´d have to think about the 2m 5f race (the Ballymore Properties Novices´ Hurdle on March 12). However we´d have to give him a run over hurdles before then and that wouldn´t leave us with much time. He is an 18th of July foal and he has done great for us already. It is in my mind to preserve his novice status until next season (not win a hurdle before the 1st of May). Then we could think of Cheltenham in 2009."
