Nayef to head straight to Guineas Trainer Marcus Tregoning was looking forward to the Sagitta 2000 Guineas with renewed hope today as the deposed favourite Nayef continued to thrive. He has almost certainly ruled out giving the colt a racecourse gallop, confident Nayef will be in prime condition for the Newmarket Classic on Saturday week. 'There have been some stories going about that he will go to a track but I would say that`s unlikely. There`s too much rain about and it probably wouldn`t be a good idea.' Nayef has recovered well from his exertions in last week`s Craven Stakes when he was a disappointing third - a result that caused him to lose pole position in the Guineas betting. 'I haven`t worked him seriously since then but he`s very well and seems to have taken the race well,' said Tregoning. 'He strips very fit now and I`m confident that he`s showing all the right signs. 'It looks an open-ish Guineas and I`m sure he will go there with every chance.' Tregoning is looking past Newmarket when Nayef is likely to be stepped up in trip. 'I`m sure he will be moving up in distance after the Guineas,' he said. 'Our big hope is that he will prove to be an even better horse when trying longer distances.'
