Nayef tops Newbury entry

Nayef, ante-post favourite for the Sagitta 2000 Guineas and Vodafone Derby, heads the 15 entries published today for the Lane`s End Greenham Stakes at Newbury on Saturday.

He won both his starts as a juvenile in good style to earn his position at the head of the betting for the big races - 5-2 for the Guineas and 8-1 for the Derby.

The Marcus Tregoning-trained half-brother to dual Classic winner Nashwan is also engaged in Thursday`s Craven Stakes at Newmarket.

Among possible rivals for Nayef in the seven-furlong Group Three contest are Tamburlaine, who finished second to him at Newbury before occupying the same slot behind Dilshaan in the Racing Post Trophy, Middle Park Stakes third Red Carpet and Clearing, the winner of the Horris Hill Stakes over Saturday`s course and distance in October.

The fillies` trial, the Dubai Duty Free Stakes, has attracted 11 entries including John Dunlop`s Alshadiyah, a daughter of 1000 Guineas winner Shadayid, Tregoning`s Rockfel Stakes victor Sayedah and Henry Cecil`s ex-Italian Rolly Polly, who scored on her first four starts last season including the Prix Robert Papin at Maisons-Laffitte.
