New sponsor expected for World Series The World Series of racing is reportedly 'alive and well', with an announcement of a new sponsor expected in the coming months.Nick Clarke of the International Racing Bureau, who is the Executive Director of the World Racing, made that announcement today as the 2002 series gets underway on Saturday with the US6million Dubai World Cup at Nad Al Sheba. That race is sponsored by airline Emirates, who pulled out of sponsoring the series last year after backing it since its inauguration in 2000.'We are the in the final stages of negotiation with a new sponsor and I expect an announcement to be made by the middle of the year,' Clarke said.'We are very grateful for the help that Emirates gave us in getting off the ground but the series is moving on all the time.'This year we have added the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes in April at Hong Kong and the Singapore Airlines International Cup the following month to the series.'This will plug the gap that we had before between the Dubai World Cup and Royal Ascot and is a development that shows how the series is being continually developed and fine-tuned.'
