Numbersixvalverde And Dun Doire On The Drift In National

Two horses that were disputing favouritism for the Grand National on Betfair not so long ago are now relatively friendless on the exchange, with Numbersixvalverde and Dun Doire out to 16.0 (15-1) and 17.0 (16-1) respectively, comfortably the biggest prices available about this pair in the betting marketplace.

The opposition to Dun Doire, 9-1 joint favourite with Boylesports, is the most extreme.

Only yesterday he was trading at around the 12-1 mark on Betfair, but presumably fears that he could be outpaced on the likely fast ground has seen his price lengthen markedly. He drifted to as high as 6-1 for a place on Betfair this morning, albeit to small sums, and is currently available at 5-1 to finish in the first four.

Last year's winner Numbersixvalverde is also on the slide. But the money continues to come for Point Barrow, no longer available to back at double figures for the race on Betfair, and Joes Edge, into 11-1 having been matched at a high of 130 (129-1) on Betfair's ante-post market.

Idle Talk is the other horse for recent money, though the best bet struck on the market is surely the punter who snaffled ?6 on Simon at 540 (539-1). He's currently 17-1 and crucially, he says that he will win.

TO WIN THE GRAND NATIONAL ? Betfair bet: 9-1 Point Barrow, 11-1 Joe's Edge, 15-1 Numbersixvalverde, 16-1 Dun Doire, 17-1 Hedgehunter, 17-1 Idle Talk, Simon, 18-1 L'Ami, 18-1 Eurotrek, 23-1 Billyvoddan, 25-1 McKelvey, 27-1 Monkerhostin, 28-1 Longshanks, 29-1 Bewleys Berry, 31-1 Bothar Na, 35-1 Liberthine.
