O'Brien registers 1-2 in Curragh's opening maiden Champion trainer Aidan O’Brien registered a 1-2 in the Curragh’s opening Barronstown Stud Irish EBF (C & G) Maiden today, as Dorset (4/9f) improved on a recent course runner-up effort to score. Ridden by Ryan Moore, the son of Wootton Bassett made all in today’s seven furlongs contest and maintained his all-the-way advantage over chasing stablemate Benvenuto Cellini, to score by 1.5 lengths. O’Brien reported “Dorset is a straightforward, lovely horse who came forward (from June 7) and he will get further. They didn’t go very fast today. “He’s obviously a group horse and he’ll be very comfortable when he goes up to a mile. He could go to the Tyros, the Futurity or he could go for the Pat Smullen race (Listed race at Naas in July) — that’s up to a mile. “The second horse will be a nice maiden next time, he did everything right, and Ronan’s (Whelan, on seventh-placed New Zealand) horse ran a lovely race too. It was good experience for them.” Quotes from Gary Carson
