Joseph O'Brien is hopeful that Wemightakedlongway can make an impact in the Betfred Oaks at Epsom this afternoon.

Following the same path as last year's heroine Ezeliya, she was a good winner of the Salsabil Stakes at Navan in April, comfortably accounting for some smart rivals in that Group 3 affair.

Again set to be partnered by regular pilot Dylan Browne McMonagle, she's currently down the pecking order in the market, with unbeaten 1,000 Guineas winner Desert Flower set to go off a warm order favourite.

Speaking at Leopardstown on Thursday, O'Brien said of his charge: "She's had a good preparation. We've had the Oaks in the back of our minds since Navan, as well as some further targets down the line.

"There is a little bit of rain around Epsom at the moment and the ground will be on the easier side. We think that will suit her well.

"We are hopeful that she'll stay the mile-and-a-half and she has at least earned a spot in the field.

"She's more than capable of running a good race. She's a daughter of Australia and the hope is that the distance will be fine.

"She is versatile going wise, she has plenty of racing experience and we are hopeful that she'll run a good race."
