Oak set for Newmarket run

Spring Oak, third behind Banks Hill in the Breeders` Cup Filly & Mare Turf last October, may return to action at Newmarket on Friday.

Formerly trained by Andre Fabre, Spring Oak in now in the care of Sheikh Mohammed`s Godolphin operation and will face a maximum of seven rivals if lining up in the Listed Directa Parseal Dahlia Stakes.

Simon Crisford, Godolphin`s racing manager, said: 'Spring Oak is a very interesting filly and we`re looking forward to seeing her in action.

'There`s every chance she`ll run in the Dahlia, although we`ve still to finalise plans, and she`s a very talented horse.

'I`m sure she`s a filly who will progress further, and we`re thinking about races like the Pretty Polly in Ireland and the Nassau at Goodwood.'

Spring Oak was beaten just over seven lengths by Banks Hill at Belmont Park, having previously finished less than two lengths behind Choc Ice and Volga in the Grade One E P Taylor Stakes at Woodbine.
